As part of the MDA's initiative to improve health through a community-based
approach, Dr. Talib Mearza along with Dr. Asim Farooq delivered insightful
lectures on cardiovascular disease in Croydon mosque. The conference was
chaired successfully by Imperial College medical student Adeel Iqbal, and
allowed members from the community to learn about a variety of issues
including obesity, diabetes, myocardial infarction, metabolic syndrome as well as an opportunity to ask questions.
The lectures were followed up by a practical session where attendees sat
one-to-one with doctors for advice and also had their blood, sugar and
pressure monitored with appropriate advice imparted. Feedback for the event was very
positive. The MDA thanks all
those who helped make this possible and for the many who took advantage of this opportunity.
